Why Would I Need a Tooth Extracted?
[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”Small Line” custom_height=”80″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1462475545534{margin-bottom: 4% !important;}”]If your tooth has been broken or damaged by decay we will try to fix it with bonding, crowns or fillings. However, sometimes there is too much damage for the tooth to be repaired. If this is the case, the tooth needs to be extracted. There are many other times when tooth extraction is necessary, such as:[/vc_column_text][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-question-sign” color=”Accent-Color”]Extra teeth that block other teeth from coming in[/text-with-icon][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-question-sign” color=”Accent-Color”]Baby teeth that don’t fall out in time for other teeth to come in[/text-with-icon][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-ok” color=”Accent-Color”]Some patients who get braces may need a tooth extracted in order to make room for the teeth that are being moved into place[/text-with-icon][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-ok” color=”Accent-Color”]People receiving cancer treatment may have infected teeth because these drugs weaken the immune system. How is it Done?
[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”Small Line” custom_height=”80″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1462475637695{margin-top: 5% !important;}”]At our local Bakersfield dental practice, we will take an X-ray of the area to help plan the best way to remove the tooth. Be sure to provide your full medical and dental history and a list of all medicines you take. This should include any prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and supplements.
A simple extraction is performed on a tooth that can be seen in the mouth. You will receive an injection to numb the area. If it is a more complex extraction you may receive a local anesthetic. Then, the dentist loosens the tooth with an instrument called an elevator and uses an instrument called a forceps to remove the tooth.
During a tooth extraction, you can expect to feel pressure, but no pain. If you feel any pain or pinching, tell your doctor.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”full_width_background” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” top_padding=”5%” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”padding-4-percent” column_padding_position=”right” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][divider line_type=”Small Line” custom_height=”80″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1462475652719{margin-top: 5% !important;}”]
